Fantástico, eres un gran pintor. Madrid España
The way you manage to capture the "atmosphère" is really inspiring. I already bought one of your long videos, if I wasn't poor I would have one of your paintings in my own studio 😊 Thanks master.
thnx, I read somewhere that the 'atmosphere' is the most difficult part to capture, so thnx again! :) I dont know exactly how to do this, but this time I experimented with kind of a halo around the tangerines. See especially the right side of the one on the right. That kind of works..
@@josvanrthis and maybe also the really smooth transition between the background and the table. I also like to see this purple fabric over some of your paintings, it is like a "trait d'union".
Beautiful work, very nice composition.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💐❤
Can you do a collection of paintings with exotic fruits? There are a lot of beautiful fruits that would make amazing still life compositions such as dragon fruit, papaya, mango, figs etc. especially if they are cut in half. Thank you! You are amazing!
Thank you...been watching for years
hi bahumdinger , thnx that's great to hear ! I hope to keep at it for... well. let's not speculate about that... but along time

Beautifully done!
Super!
The wide frame give depth to the painting and make us focus on her. Nice colour of frame and amazing painting. God gave you a beautiful gift.⚡️
Hi thanks is beautiful 🤩
Do you have to wait for the oil pint to dry? And paint over the existing colour next day? Like layering colours on top does it have to dry first before coating on another colour on top
hi Skeleton, no, i put the painting in the freezer at night, to prevent the paint from drying. Most of the work is done painting wet on wet..
@@josvanr oh wow! I thought wet on wet would mix the colours then… I never heard that putting it in freezer prevents it from drying! Are you based in London? Do you do any art tuition teaching lessons/classes ? Would love to learn!
Your colors are beautiful
Another masterpiece. Bravo.
I love you paintings. I remember watching a video where you showed the contraption you use to save paint. Could you tell us how you made it? I am looking up paint saver palettes but they are all pretty pricey.
Hi, what brusher do you use?
Почему так быстро?????😢
Try to put the speed slower from the corner

Is there full length tutorial of this still life available?
hi Frank, yes, they are still up and running ! Please follow the instructions, and if you experience any difficulties, send me a note !
Can you tell me please, what is rod or bar that we sometimes see across the screen? It seems you lean your hand on it. How does that work?
hi Jenet, it is just a simple rod with a square cross section, with a 2 inch rod glued to it on one end, to make an angle. The painting sits on a big wooden board on the easel, and I can latch the rod onto the big wooden board to provide horizontal support.
How do you make sure your layers of paint don't mix with the paint underneath in 1 sitting? Everytime i try to pull off a still life in 1 sitting, i always end up getting blended smudges of color. I can't even do highlights.
hello Hooft, yes, there are several issues here: 1) use high quality paint, eg Old Holland or another artist grade. These paints have better opaqueness, so it is easier to put 'layers' on top of each other wet in to wet. 2) you can experiment with different types of brushes. Some brushes kind of scratch the paint away more than others. I also often thin out the hairs of the brush by cutting in to them on the broad side with a sharp knife. This way they don't exert as much pressure. Or sand the hairs on a sanding pad. 3) The higlights I often prefer to keep free of paint until the end. I paint on a white background, so I can kind of mimic the end result by scratching away the hilight, until I dab on the final white paint. This way I dont need to paint around the white dab to prevent the other paint from getting 'milky' 4) if there is too much paint to allow more to be added, I very regularly just lay a paper towel on top of the area to remove paint... So yes... hope this helps !
@@josvanr this has been very informative! thank you so much :D
Inspiring thank you so much
thnx !

Awesome
Superb, your overall working approach is such a good idea. Thanks for sharing. Regards JB
thnx, i hope you will find some ideas here..
Reminds me a little bit of Waterhouse
yes me too :D
I'm currently painting a still life with oranges myself and this timelapse video has been very helpful. I'm pretty much painting from imagination. As I'm a very inexperienced and slow painter and if I were to set up a proper still life the oranges would wither and rot by the time I was finished lol.
yes this is always a big 'challenge' or rather just a problem. Keeping the fruits fresh. I do put them in a fridge, buy new ones, or resort to photographs if everything else fails. But it is not ideal..
Very impressive! As always perfect! Thank you,Jos!
great master.
Congrats! Love your work !
these are all incredibly beautiful😍 and very atmospheric✨✨✨
People look at things, you help them to see what it is that they are looking at.
yes that's a way of looking at it..
Oh, no no no. This went much too fast. I wanted to linger on each one and absorb it. I want to look at each one from a distance and then up really close so I could see the strokes. Your paintings say so much. It's like they reveal the truth of the subject. Simply beautiful exhibit in a wonderful atmosphere for your talent.
Beautiful 🤗💐👏🏻
The place where your paintings are exhibited in my opinion is perfect. I hope you sell your paintings.
yes it is truly a wonderful place, bit like traveling back in time..
Nice work, Hope a lot of your PAINTINGS sell.!

minutes....see, I am still gone a bit 😊
I don't really know how to explain the emotion that I experience when I watch you. The closest I can come to it is the feeling of complete detachment from everything else around me. It is the same feeling that I get when I paint (not even close to your skill). The music is perfect and this may sound really corny but I think you must be a very elegant man to present your videos in the manner in which you do. Thanks for the 11 minuets of peace.
Do you view the setup through a grid as well?
hi Felix, no, this time I photographs to make the composition, and I got the initial measurements from Gimp using the grid, to transfer them to the board. Apart from the measurements, I paint from life, as it is hard to get the tone/color balance right from photos. I do sometimes use a grid later on, if I'm in doubt about the symmetry of an object. One can easily compare the left and right contours that way. Maybe it would be interesting to use a big grid in front of the subject some time, like Mancini did.
Oil?😮
